Note on 3PAR 10xxx Series
If you are currently attempting to erase a 3PAR 10xxx series with Blancco Enterprise Array 2U, please note:
- There is a known issue with the 3Par 10xxx series where drive detection is incomplete.
- The current work-around is to connect directly at the shelf level utilizing the fibre channel port on the front of the appliance
- Please note the shelves will not support daisy-chaining
Note on 3PAR 7xxx Series
If you are currently attempting to erase a 3PAR 7xxxx series with Blancco Enterprise Array 2U, please note:
- A direct connection over Fibre Channel will not work in this model
- The connection will need to be established directly, utilizing the SAS HBA via a MiniSAS cable.
- Attach a MiniSAS Cable to the MiniSAS Port labeled DP1 (either Node0 or Node 1)
- The MiniSAS Port Labeled DP2 is for daisy chaining to the next enclosure
- Processor Enclosure (DPE) cannot be daisy chain
- Disk Enclosure can be daisy chained up to 4 enclosures MiniSAS HBA port on the 2U
Note on 3PAR 8xxx Series
If you are currently attempting to erase a 3PAR 7xxxx series with Blancco Enterprise Array 2U, please note:
- A direct connection over Fibre Channel will not work in this model
- A 6Gbps SAS HBA may not work in some case - please make sure to use 12Gbps SAS HBA
- The connection will need to be established directly, utilizing the SAS HBA via a MiniSAS HD cable.
- Attach a MiniSAS Cable to the MiniSAS HD Port labeled DP1 (either Node0 or Node 1)
- The MiniSAS HD Port Labeled DP2 is for daisy chaining to the next enclosure
- Processor Enclosure (DPE/PE) cannot be daisy chained - only direct connect 1:1
- Disk Enclosure (DAE/DE)can be daisy chained up to 4 enclosures per MiniSAS HD HBA port on the 2U
Troubleshooting - No discovery of drives in Blancco Drive Eraser GUI
Hot Swap function is may not work in certain drive enclosures. Drive Enclosure/s need to be powered on and all drives are ready before powering up the 2U.
- Power up the drive enclosures - if already powered up make sure all other data cables (Optical,LAN, SAS etc.) not connected to the 2U HBA ports are unplugged
- Wait for all drive to stabilize
- Remove redundancies data cable form the drive enclosures
- Power up the 2U, wait until all drives have stopped blinking - once up and running, wait a further two/three minutes
- Wait until Blancco software is up
- Make sure Management Console tab is connected and showing the correct license count needed
- Confirm all drives are listed in GUI
- If not, hit Refresh button and wait few minutes for all drives to be listed
- If no drive is listed, check cabling and all ports are connected and no redundancies cabling are connected
- If drives still not listed - hit Refresh again , and wait bit longer
- Reboot the 2U
