Description
When a tenant is created in the BMP, a default License Pool is created at the same time. When a user is created in the tenant, they are assigned to a license pool, which may be the default license pool or a custom license pool.
The manager of the tenant may decide to create custom license pools for specific sites or individuals to manage the license consumption more tightly.
To perform these steps the “Create, Edit & View license pools” role is needed.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Creating a license pool
Go to Licenses → License pools in the Management Portal
Click on “Create licenses pool”
Choose the licenses which should be added to the pool
The "Available" column shows the number of licenses (usually from the Default Pool) which are available be added to the license pool that we are editing.
The "Total" column displays the total amount of licenses added to a pool (used licenses + remaining licenses) from the time that the license pool was created.
The "Remaining" column shows the number of unused licenses available for consumption.
Click “Create”
In this example, a license pool has been created and out of the number of licenses available from the Default License Pool (the "Available" column), 1077 licenses of each of Blancco Drive Eraser - Asset Profiler and Blancco Drive Eraser - Enterprise Volume Edition were added to the License Pool (the "Total" column). Looking at Enterprise Volume Edition licenses. there are 1001 remaining licenses ("Remaining" column), therefore six licenses have been consumed.
If you want to increase the number of "Remaining" licenses, which are the number of licenses available for consumption for a user or users, you use the up arrows in the "Total" column (highlighted box) to increase the number of licenses to the total and you can remove licenses by using the down arrow. The total number of licenses that you can add is determined by the number of licenses shown in the "Available" column. The number of licenses that you can remove is determined by the number of licenses shown in the "Remaining" column.
Increasing the "Total" license number will also increase the "Remaining" licenses by the same value and correspondingly decrease the "Available" licenses by the same value.
